Why She Is Brave Collective?
Can I make a confession? I am one of the least brave people that I know. I am a people pleaser and want to avoid conflict at all costs. Living in a world where it is becoming increasingly unpopular to be women of faith, we are constantly presented with opportunities to choose to be brave and bold or keep silent. Trust me, that is not always easy and I have failed at that many times! But over the past year I've learned just how important it is to be brave and stand up for what we know is right, whether it's in friendships, in your job, or even at church.
I was lucky enough to hear one of my favorite authors (and also BFF), Annie Downs, speak in September 2017. In her new book, Let's All Be Brave, she says:
“When God tells you to be brave, he will make it work. It won’t be perfect. It won’t be easy. But it will be your story and your best story.”
She is so right. It's not always going to be easy to do the brave thing, but it's what God calls us to do. It may be counter-cultural, you may lose friendships, but in the end it will be so worth it.
So friend, the purpose of She Is Brave Collective is to equip and encourage women to be brave in the unique callings that Jesus has for each of us. Whether you're a stay at home mom, a single gal with big vision, or just a woman struggling to find joy and purpose in the mundane of the everyday, here at SIBC, we are all on this journey together. As we study the Word, lift up one another, and strive to know Jesus more and more, it is my prayer that you would be strengthened to be bold and live a brave life for the glory of God.
Hi there, I'm Ashley!
I'm a twenty-something girl from Tennessee and I'm so glad that you've decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. I am a 4th grade teacher, Noonday Collection ambassador, and wanna-be world traveler. I also have a deep love for Mexican food, Gilmore Girls, and all things Disney. #itsthelittlethings
I started my "social media journey" in 2015 by creating a Youtube channel focused on simplicity, organization, and faith. That channel was born as I was coming out of a season where God taught me a lot, and I felt the call to share that by talking to a camera and uploading it for random people on the internet to see. 🙃 It still feels weird, but I am thankful for the opportunity to share how God has been faithful and worked in my life.
Over the past few years God has given me such a passion to utilize social media as a mission field. Each day when we log into Facebook or scroll through Instagram, we enter a battlefield of comparison and often leave feeling discouraged and insecure. It is my hope that this little space on the internet would equip and encourage you to walk in the freedom of who Jesus says you are, and bravely live out His calling on your life.
